Founded in September 1987 and spread over an area of 506 sq km, this place has a unique touch as it is a themed park based on the Hindu Mythology and the Indian epics. The entrance reads the famous quote, ‘I am the eternal seed of living beings’ from the Bhagavad Gita, while the whole park is divided into various sections for each kind of animal and the name of each section is according to the names of the mythological figures.
Maintained by Andhra Pradesh Forest Development Corporation (APFDC), it is one of the most innovative zoos developed in the last three decades by India’s Central Zoo Authority, housing endemic and indigenous flora and fauna.
